Qualified Marine Scientist and Safari Guide Simon has been kayaking in the sea for 30 yrs. He has completed the fastest PE-EL Surfski Race, holds the record for the fastest manpowered traverse of the Okavango Delta, and won the 2007 ARB Surski World Cup doubles section.

A world renowned sports scientist and a recognized leader is his field of expertise. Professor Noakes will be collecting data to prove wether or not The Africa Challenge will be recorded by science as "The Greatest Recorded Feat of Human Endurance in the History of Mankind" surpassing the Polar expeditions of Scott and Shackleton to claim this title.

MSc (Med) Nutrition & Dietetics, heads the dietetic practice associated with the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SASSI). Shelly believes that my sustained nutrition will hold the key to the success of The Africa Challenge.Shelly has provided me with practical science-based nutritional guidelines to meet my extreme energy demands during my training period and will assist me with maintaining this throughout the next few years.

Renowned polar swimmer and Global Warming Activist Lewis has pushed the boundaries of human endurance. Lewis currently travels the world as a motivational speaker and lobbying against global warming.

Mark Steele was the trainer for the Springbok Rugby Team before returning to Durban and settling down with his family. He currently trains the Natal Sharks Rugby Team - runners up in the 2006 Super 14 Rugby Tournament.

Michael Walker is a freelance photographer. He worked for a number of years for the Chicago Tribune and the Sunday Times. He has won numerous awards including the Photo of the Year in the 2006 Fuji Photo Press Awards.
